What professional tips or advice would you like to share about your profession?
As dental assistant instructors, it is important to understand we play a crucial role in providing educational opportunities for many students. This might be the student’s first step in their education journey. My tips to other educators are to stay organized, develop excellent communication skills, stay up-to-date with new technologies and techniques, maintain a positive attitude, and build good relationships with colleagues will help you excel as a dental assistant instructor.
What is your #1 reason for becoming an ADEA member?
Access to industry resources is the number 1 reason for becoming an ADEA member! I have access to a wealth of resources, including educational opportunities, networking events, and the newest education information. Being a part of ADEA provides me with a sense of belonging and community, allowing me to connect with others who share similar experiences interests, and goals.
What has been the most rewarding experience of your career?
Making a positive impact on others, whether through helping a student solve a simple problem, or knowing my influence is improving their life. It is also as simply knowing I am making a difference in the rewarding profession of dental assisting. My career goal has always been to help students become the best version of themselves.
How has ADEA Connect been useful to you?
ADEA Connect provides a platform for me to connect and network with others in the dental community, which leads to collaboration with my peers. There have been opportunities for professional growth and development. My favorite part is reading other educators’ ideas for their courses and labs. I’ve even made a few good friends.
What is your favorite hobby or place to travel?
My favorite place to travel is anywhere I can go with my husband, our friends, or my family. Travel provides a way for me to recharge and pursue my interests, helping to balance the demands of work and life. I always have a trip planned so I can look forward to getting away.
