What professional tips or advice would you like to share about your profession?
Dentistry is a fantastic way to help others in need. Take time to do missions to serve the underserved. Remember to always treat the individual first, then treat the problem. Make sure you listen to your patients and never deny their pain.
What is your #1 reason for becoming an ADEA member?
The number one reason I teach is students. The number one reason for becoming an ADEA member is to learn to teach better from the best dental education experts in the world!
What has been the most rewarding experience of your career?
Every time I watch dental students walk across the stage, get hooded (which I often help do), and receive their diplomas. Teaching at the Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry has been a rewarding experience.
How has ADEA Connect been useful to you?
ADEA Connect is a fantastic news source, a wonderful way to meet other professionals and get advice, learn about new techniques through CE (Continuing Education) courses offered, to organize sections and meetings, and most importantly, just say Hi to your friends.
What is your favorite hobby or place to travel?
I like to exercise, spend time with my wife, Barbara (47 years of marriage), and hit the beach and mountains with my family and grandchildren (11 of them).
