What professional tips or advice would you like to share about your profession?
As a dental educator, it is crucial to prioritize continuous professional development. Dental education is a rapidly evolving field, with new research, technologies, and methodologies emerging regularly. In order to remain effective and stay up-to-date, it is essential to invest in your professional growth.
What is your #1 reason for becoming an ADEA member?
I joined ADEA because of my passion for teaching and my appreciation for a professional organization dedicated to educators like us. Upon joining, I wasted no time before engaging with fellow educators and participating in online courses and webinars to enhance my knowledge and skills. Eventually, I took on an officer position in the Section on Endodontics, and I am thrilled to witness first-hand the numerous activities ADEA sponsors.
What has been the most rewarding experience of your career?
As a dental educator, one of my goals is to foster a supportive and inclusive environment that positively influences my students' learning experience. In my opinion, dental education can be challenging, and it is crucial to create a space where students feel valued, respected, and supported for their success and overall well-being. Receiving positive feedback from a student who recognizes my efforts is incredibly rewarding. It gives me an additional sense of purpose and brings me a higher level of fulfillment.
How has ADEA Connect been useful to you?
ADEA Connect, with its Sections and SIGs, provides the ideal platform for networking and exchanging ideas with fellow educators. As a female and internationally educated junior faculty member, I find great value in being a member of the Section on Women in Leadership. Additionally, I take advantage of participating in special groups such as the Internationally Educated Oral Health Professionals, Career Development for the New Dental Educator, Sustainability in Dentistry, and many others. These opportunities allow me to broaden my knowledge beyond my specific area of expertise.
What is your favorite hobby or place to travel?
I love spending time outdoors, whether it's hiking, biking, or having a barbecue by the lake. I enjoy traveling to coastal destinations, especially Italy, to experience its breathtaking beauty and indulge in its delicious cuisine.
