What professional tips or advice would you like to share about your profession?
When working with patients or students, I keep in mind the quote from Maya Angelou as one of my guiding principles: “People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel.”
What is your #1 reason for becoming an ADEA member?
Connecting with colleagues at other schools. I love sharing experiences about what we’re all doing so we can learn from each other and hopefully, make a more positive impact at our respective institutions.
What has been the most rewarding experience of your career?
Seeing students grow and go out into world and become successful practitioners. It’s been so rewarding to see students I initially meet at various predental recruitment fairs and then, four or more years later, walk across the graduation stage. Even more neat is seeing them at dental conferences.
How has ADEA Connect been useful to you?
It’s been a great avenue to hear more about what others are doing at other dental programs.
What is your favorite hobby or place to travel?
I love seeing Broadway musicals and visiting theme parks, especially Walt Disney World.
