What professional tips or advice would you like to share about your profession?
So much of what we do as dental professionals is working with people. More so than the clinical aspect. Forming relationships with my colleagues, staff, patients and stakeholders is what makes being a dental professional so rewarding. There is a great deal of trust in our profession with the general public. I feel that our doctor patient relationship is the cornerstone for that trust and I don’t take that lightly.
What is your #1 reason for becoming an ADEA member?
The continuing education. I really enjoy learning how to “teach.” Learning new pedagogical concepts through webinars and at the ADEA Annual Session in invaluable for my success in classroom.
What has been the most rewarding experience of your career?
Achieving my goal of owning a dental practice is definitely at the top. However, being an Educator brings me joy everyday and is the most rewarding.
How has ADEA Connect been useful to you?
Receiving daily emails is something I look forward to. It reminds me of when I used to read the newspaper each morning to learn about current events and happenings. I also like being a member of several communities. Some communities provide resources for the courses I’m teaching now. Other communities help me network and learn more about my future career goals. The discussions are also very useful. Each institution does things a little differently so the ADEA Connect platform is an excellent way to collaborate.
What is your favorite hobby or place to travel?
Pilates is my favorite hobby. Mindful movement is an excellent way to control stress and stay physically active.
