What professional tips or advice would you like to share about your profession?
"Always be a lifelong learner and never underestimate the power of empathy."
Dentistry is a constantly evolving field, requiring ongoing learning and adaptation to new technologies, research, and treatments. Beyond technical expertise, building genuine, trusting relationships with patients and students is equally important. Empathy is key to effective care and education, enabling us to listen, understand, and provide personalized treatment. In short, invest in both your skills and relationships to become a well-rounded dentist and educator.
What is your #1 reason for becoming an ADEA member?
"To contribute to the future of dental education and collaborate with like-minded professionals."
I became an ADEA member because I wanted to be part of an organization that is at the forefront of shaping the future of dental education. ADEA provides a platform for educators to share ideas, best practices, and research while fostering collaboration across institutions. As a member, I am constantly inspired by the passion and dedication of my peers, and I feel that my involvement helps contribute to advancing the field of dental education for the next generation of dental professionals.
What has been the most rewarding experience of your career?
"Witnessing the growth and success of my students."
While there have been many rewarding moments throughout my career, the most fulfilling experience is seeing my students grow, both professionally and personally. When I see them excel in their clinical skills, develop their confidence, or achieve their career goals, I am reminded of why I became an educator in the first place. Knowing that I played a small part in their success is incredibly gratifying. Their accomplishments reflect the hard work they put in, and it gives me great pride to see them make a meaningful impact in the world of dentistry.

ADEA Connect has been an excellent platform for me to stay connected with colleagues, share insights, and access resources that enhance my teaching and clinical practice. It's a great place to engage with peers, ask questions, and exchange ideas on challenges in dental education. Whether it is discussing curriculum improvements, new research, or personal experiences, ADEA Connect fosters a collaborative environment that helps me stay informed and supported in my role as an educator.
What is your favorite hobby or place to travel?
"Exploring new places, and spending time with my family is my ultimate joy."
One of my favorite hobbies is traveling. Whether it’s visiting my family in Tokyo or exploring new destinations like Hawaii, Bali, and Brazil. I love experiencing different cultures and finding inspiration in the world around me. Travel also allows me to recharge, reflect, and broaden my perspective, which ultimately benefits both my personal and professional life. Above all, spending quality time with my family, especially my daughters, is what makes any destination special.
